The Importance of the Honeybee
No joke — just this morning we were sent an email forward that claimed if honeybees were extinct, humans would only survive four more years. If that threat (sometimes credited to Einstein, but that’s not solid) can end up in a poorly formatted missive from a conservative septuagenarian, the truth of the value of bees is getting around and thank goodness for that. The winged pollinators are tiny inspirations to live more cleanly and with greater respect for our planet.
Denton Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center (3310 Collins Road, Denton) is doing its part by hosting an Intro to Beekeeping and Local Honey Tasting 11 a.m. Saturday after the local Honey Run. The sustainability workshop is free and offers details on keeping bees in cities and suburbs. Christina Beck, president of Denton County Beekeepers Association, will cover the tricks and tools of the trade, as well as the skinny on pollination. Plus, tasty, tasty honey. A second workshop on pollinator gardens will take place on February 25.
Although we provide the utmost luxury at Trails at Creekside Apartments in Allen, Texas, we realize that you need to get out and socialize with those in your surrounding community. This event gives you the chance to do just that! Don’t hesitate to attend today!
